As a follow up to the RoC Conversations that were held in June we will be having a series of more specific conversations in September/October.
These will focus on specific areas of need around Bognor and will continue to develop plans that will enable cross church projects across the town. As each night will be dedicated to a particular area it will allow people to attend more than one meeting before committing themselves to a project. The dates of the meetings, which will be held in the church, are:
September 22nd: Homeless
October 13th: Youth and Arun Angels
November 3rd: Early Intervention
A week of activities around Bognor. You are welcome to join is as many or as few of the activities as you would like to. Each day is designed to be all-age friendly to one degree or other so we hope it is also an opportunity to get to know a wider circle of people from within the church fellowship.
This year's holiday club for children of primary school age 5 - 11 will take place from Tuesday 26th - 29th July from 10am - 12pm each day. The theme fro this year is "Down at the station" and the week will be a stag eled action packed time of theatre, craft, games, singing and other activities.
The church is going to the Carnival this year on Sunday 3rd July. We will be gathering at West Park at 2pm for the start of the procession at 2.30pm. The council has given us “Colours of the world” as this year's theme. We have decided to use the story of Jonah and the Whale and incorporate different sea creatures with plenty of bright colours into the costumes and float. We are hoping to make a giant whale to place on our float and any nominations for Jonah gratefully received!
We will be having three workshop sessions in the church on Saturday mornings to build the whale and prepare costumes, decorations and artwork for the carnival on:-
Saturday 18th June 10-1pm
Saturday 25th June 10-1pm
Saturday 2nd July 10-1pm
The workshop sessions will be a great opportunity to make costumes with others. There are limited resources in the art cupboard so most of the materials for costumes will have to be supplied by the maker, but teaming up with others and sharing materials is a good idea. www.freecycle.org might be a good source for materials.
We will be needing lots of blue tarpaulin to cloak our whale so if you have one we can use for the duration of the carnival please contact the church office: office@opengate.org.uk
